This
London, Ontario based bar band (formerly known as
Popjoy), led by vocalist/guitarist Sarah Smith, releases
their third disc, Demolition Sessions, which
showcases a maturing sound marked by guitar-driven rock.
Highlights from this formidable four-piece band include
"You're Beautiful" - a poppy song that will grab you
with its infectious rhythms and repetitive lyrics - and
"All For You" - a sprawling song that starts out slow
and builds to a crescendo of chords. "Do I (radio edit)"
is aptly named, as it is a radio-friendly pop song that
gets your head moving and your feet grooving to its
melodic beat. Overall, Demolition Sessions shows
the Joys jubilantly espousing a musical ethos of pure
ecstasy and energy through their brand of hook-laden
music; these Canadian college campus darlings of pop
rock will send you home after a bender at the bar
screaming for more.
